Welcome to The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Study Away Program!

Here you can find information about our programs, visa and passport questions, faculty resources, financial aid and scholarship information, specific information on the country to which you are traveling or connect with study abroad alumni.

We have over 50 programs in 35 international locations in the areas of Language, Arts, Nursing, Business, Social science, Engineering and Natural science. This year over 150 undergraduate and graduate students have chosen to study overseas with The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Study Abroad Program.

ANNOUNCING THE NEW UAB PRESIDENTIAL STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIP

$100,000 in scholarship money is available to UAB undergraduate students participating in UAB approved study abroad programs. This proposal would provide undergraduate scholarship awards to help increase the number and diversity of students participating in Study Abroad, promote longer-term study opportunities and expand the variety of programs and partnerships around the world. This supports the university goal for Study Abroad in the Undergraduate Scorecard.

Application Deadlines:

  • Study Abroad in the Fall and/or Academic Year -- March 1

  • Study Abroad in the Spring -- December 1

  • Study Abroad during a Summer program -- March 1
  NEW UAB STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION & APPLICATION (At least Sophomore Standing & 2.7 Cumulative GPA required to apply)
