Course Requirements:

CURRENT NURSING students will have priority registration & pre-nursing students must seek special permission from instructors to participate

Students will enroll in 3 hours of either NUR 442 or NUR 642: Health, Education & Social Welfare in a Global Community. Please note: the UAB Study Abroad Office will register all students.

Come study in Honduras!

Nursing majors can use these credits to complete their degrees! All while living and learning in Honduras!

This 3-credit summer course offers an intensive introduction to the "Health, Education & Social Welfare" of Honduras.

Eligibility:

  • At least Sophomore standing.

  • Minimum GPA of 2.7 or above (Some programs require a 3.0 GPA.)

    Program Fees

    The total cost of this 10-day expedition from Birmingham, AL is 1,940.00 per person based on double occupancy. Please note: the cost of this travel program INCLUDES airfare costs (estimated at $800.00) AND 3 hours of UAB Tuition & Fees for coursework (estimated at $450.00 for in-state-undergraduates) AND is based on 10 full fare participants and may be increased for a smaller group. Meal costs are a minimum estimate based on the site visit conducted by faculty leaders. Taxes and fuel surcharges which are not covered by our contract with the airlines are subject to change and may result in additional charges. Please contact the travel agent listed at the bottom of the program application for flight arrangements. Refer to UAB Tuition and Fees for a listing of UAB Tuition and Fee costs and payment deadlines.

    • 3 hours UAB Tuition and Fees***
    • $15 per day for meals****
    • Ground transportation in Honduras
    • Payment for local speakers and site visits with Honduran guides
    • 2 on-site UAB faculty leaders
    • Travel Accident Insurance

    *Estimated program cost is subject to change at any time without advance notice.

    **Students will stay with other UAB students in lodging that has been chosen by the instructors. The course costs have been estimated on double occupancy of standard hotel rooms.

    ***Students who are not in-state undergraduate students should visit UAB Tuition and Fees to determine what their tuition charges will be.

    ****Meal costs are based on a minimum estimate of $15 per day as based on the site visit conducted by faculty leaders.
