ABOUT THE CITY OF MUENSTER

With more than 50,000 students enrolled at the city's universities and other institutions of higher education, Munster is one of Germany's leading educational centres and the home of many training institutes. These centres of learning range from the Fire Brigade Institute to the Westphalian Riding and Driving School, the Police Management Academy in Hiltrup, the Franz-Hitze-Haus Academy, and a training centre of the Westphalian Business Administration Academy. Each year over 500,000 people from a wide variety of professions attend training and educational programmes in Muenster.

Muenster has more to offer: The County and City Museums, the Pablo Picasso Museum of Graphic Arts, the Museum of Lacquered Art and the attractive cultural offerings in this university city ensure a perfect supporting programme for your next event!

Westfalische Wilhelms-Universtat Muenster

The University of Muenster is one of Germany's biggest institutions of higher eduation, and it is also one of the oldest established - founded on 16 April 1780.

Despite its huge student population of almost 40,000, the dimensions of Muenster University have remained human. Muenster's alma mater is not a campus university. Since its buildings are scattered all over the city, it is always surrounded by the buzz and bustle of everyday life.

In addition to a wide range of subjects, the University of Muenster can offer an equally wide variety of research programs. More than 500 professors and almost 2,000 other academics are engaged in pure and applied research which is conducted in over 250 departments..

Through the UAB Reciprocal Exchange Program, you can join this thriving, progressive community of students and staff!

To participate, students must have taken at least 4 semesters of college-level coursework in German.

The Department of History at UAB also offers a sizeable scholarship opportunity. If you are interested in applying please email Dr. James Tent, Chair of the UAB Dept. of History.

The following is a list of those Muenster University courses that have already been approved for credit transfer.

Eligibility:

  • At least Sophomore standing.

  • Minimum GPA of 2.7 or above (Some programs require a 3.0 GPA.)

  • Permission of UAB Study Abroad Program

    Program Fees

    Because this is a Reciprocal Exchange program, UAB students pay UAB Tuition and Fees. Students are responsible for their airfare, housing, meals and extracurricular travel.
