ABOUT THE CITY OF ESSLINGEN

Esslingen could not be better placed, providing easy access to Stuttgart with the train and to the Stuttgart airport. The centre of Esslingen an excellent selection of banks, shops and beautiful parks with coffee shops inside. There is also a big mall almost opposite from our office in which we have nice restaurants, bars, movie-centres and exclusive stores.

Esslingen offers business opportunities in high-tech, automotive and services sectors. Most well-known companies like Robert Bosch, Daimler Chrysler AG, Hewlett Packard, IBM, BMW, Kodak are based in the Stuttgart area. Besides places of important companies, Stuttgart also has the reputation as an important Finance and Stock Exchange Centre. More than 100 different private credit institutions are located in Stuttgart. Researches and technical evolutions are very important factors in this innovative region.

Hochschule Esslingen, University of Applied Sciences (HE)

HE is pleased to welcome students from all over the world every year from partner universities with bilateral agreements, and for students from abroad, a number of degree and exchange programs are available.

The HE currently has around 600 foreign students of which approx. 280 have completed their secondary education in Germany and cooperates with more than 50 universities in around 20 different countries (2003).

Academic Programs:

Through the UAB Reciprocal Exchange Program, you can join this thriving, progressive community of students and staff to participate in two specific study abroad programs: the INTAP program for Mechanical and Automotive Engineering courses and the STIPUS program for Business courses.

For the INTAP program, German is not required as all courses are taught in English.

For the STIPUS program, students must have taken at least 4 semesters of college-level coursework in German. For more information, download the STIPUS Program Information Packet.

NOTE: INTAP Students will enroll in both the German Language and German History classes and choose 3 of the 5 listed Engineering courses.

Eligibility:

  • At least Sophomore standing.

  • Minimum GPA of 2.7 or above (Some programs require a 3.0 GPA.)

    Program Fees

    Because this is a Reciprocal Exchange program, UAB students pay UAB Tuition and Fees. Students are responsible for their airfare, housing, meals and extracurricular travel.
